Being an athlete is more than winning a game - it is learning the meaning of teamwork, leadership, sacrifice and the value of hard work with each success and failure. They eat, live and breathe their sport because of the love for it, but their stories go beyond that. As a former athlete, I know this all too well. Capturing these images is a visual means to document their stories.
I've seen players in tears after a turnover that cost them the OVC Tournament and the opportunity of March Madness, photographed quarterbacks kneeling in prayer before a game and volleyball players cheering in OVC tournaments after a successful set/spike combo. These are the moments that drive me as a sports photographer; to show more than what we see on the surface of typical action shots.
I am a Murray State University grad and my work has been published by The Murray State News at TheNews.Org, Murray State University's Marketing Department, Murray State Athletics Department, The Paducah Sun, WKMS, FLAGRANT Magazine, and The OVC Conference amongst other publications.
